Metropolitan Museum of Art
September 3, 2008
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, often referred to simply as “the Met”, is one of the world’s largest and most important art museums.. The main building is located on Central Park in New York city, along what is known as Museum Mile. The Met is a designated Natural Historic Landmark.
The Met’s permanent collection contains more than two million works of art, divided into nineteen curatorial departments. The Cloisters, the branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe from the twelfth through the fifteenth century. The building and its cloistered gardens—located in Upper Manhattan—are treasures in themselves, effectively part of the collection housed there.
Represented in the permanent collection are works of art from classical antiquity and Ancient Egypt, paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art. The Met also maintains extensive holdings of African, Asian, Oceanic, Byzantine and Islamic art. The museum is also home to encyclopedic collections of musical instruments, costumes and accessories, and antique weapons and armor from around the world. A number of notable interiors, ranging from 1st century Rome through modern American design, are permanently installed in the Met’s galleries.
In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the Met organizes and hosts special exhibitions and free events.
The Met Store is a fabulous place to buy gifts; you’ll find publications based on past and present exhibits, stationary, puzzles, jewelry, educational toys and other reproductions produced by the Museum. They also offer a wide variety of home decor items including art reproductions.
I Love Jason Bourne
September 3, 2008

I love Jason Bourne! No, I don’t mean I really “love” him, after all he is an international assassin, but I love the Bourne Movies. The Bourne Identity is a 1980 spy fiction thriller novel by Robert Ludlum. It is the first in a series of novels written by Ludlum, and later Eric Van Lustbader. The Bourne Identity was voted the second best spy novel of all-time, right behind John le CarrĂ©’s The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, by Publishers Weekly.
A sequel to The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Identity and the third film of the Bourne Trilogy, The Bourne Ultimatum was released in 2007.
I love Jason because he has laser focus and determination. Jason achieves his goals, he has the “whatever it takes” attitude and always finds a way no matter the obstacles that he faces. Jason doesn’t try, Jason does. I think this is what makes the movies so powerful, you see a man with the drive, ambition and determination to face the odds and win. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too!
You may be saying well, it’s just a movie … well, it is just a movie but watch … learn the lessons the movie will teach you and then go out and create the life of your dreams. Real “live” people do it everday!

What Women Need In A Relationship
September 3, 2008

“She Says” by Heather Juma
What’s a girl really want from that special guy in her life? We heard Phil tell us what a guy needs, and yes in spite of our beliefs to the contrary his list didn’t include food, sex and absolute and total control over the remote!
So here’s what a girl needs … a guy who will listen, not a guy that will just nod his head, say “um hm” or grunt every two minutes, and then swear up down five minutes later that “you never told me that”. We really want guys to listen, to understand us and take what we have to say seriously, not just tune us out and pretend they’re listening to us.
Girls want romance! We would love to be swept off our feet now and then! Hey guys surprise us, do something romantic! It doesn’t have to be fancy, leave a love note on our pillow, snuggle on the couch with us, bring home a bag of our favorite cookies. Something simple, spontaneous and most of all something that shows that you took the time to think about us in the middle of your busy day.
Ask us about our dreams for our lives. Again listen to what we have to say, believe in us, encourage us, support us. Be the “cheerleaders” in our lives, tell us how proud you are of us when we accomplish a goal or have a “win” in our lives. Be 100% supportive even if things don’t go as planned. Have “our back”, we need you there with us as we strive to be “all” that we can be.
So what’s a girl need? Love, Respect and Understanding.
Make A Splash With Glass
September 2, 2008

One of the hottest trends in home design today is glass tile. Colorful mosaics immediately catch the eye and sparkle like gemstones, adding an exciting new dimension of artwork to your home.
Glass tiles are not new. Artists in the Byzantine Empire (300 B.C.) were famous for their Smalti tile, an opaque glass tile used in mosaics.
One reason more homeowners are opting for glass tile, is that you can use it anywhere your imagination takes you. While designers most often use it as decorative accents in backsplashes and showers, it also works well in pool borders, Jacuzzi installations and fireplace surrounds. With the proper finish, it can even be used on the floor. (Because any crack in glass tile is visible, it should not be installed on a flexible or high-impact surface).
Glass mosaic tiles start in the 1/2-inch range and typically come on mesh-backed sheets or face-mounted on paper. They have become so popular that you can find them at big-box home improvement stores. Available in an amazing array of colors, sizes, shapes and textures, glass tile allows you to express your personality in a way that stainless steel or stone simply cannot. Yet it looks good alongside those surfaces and with slate and ceramic.
Other pluses: Glass tile doesn’t stain, won’t fade and requires little maintenance. A solution of vinegar and water or commercial glass cleaner does the job. The environmentally conscious, meanwhile, will appreciate that it’s a sustainable material. Several glass tile companies, in fact, make it from recycled bottles.
However, beautiful things don’t come easy. Glass tile can be tricky to work with, and its installation is not for do-it-yourselfers. Installers must lay everything out in advance and with great care to reduce the number of cuts, especially at recessed niches and outside corners. They also must frequently bevel outside corners to avoid sharp edges.
Because grout can change the color of the tile, you also have to be careful about which thin-set you use, especially if the tile is transparent or translucent. Some tiles look completely different once they’re installed, so you always want to see your selections grouted on a board. Glass can look different in a photo, so it’s also wise to get a sample from a showroom.
Although some manufacturers claim highly skilled do-it-yourselfers can take on a glass tile project, architects say it’s best left to a professional. That’s especially the case if you’re looking for an unusual arrangement.

Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places?
September 2, 2008
Ladies! Are you looking for “Mr. Right” in all the wrong places? Are you spending your weekends hanging out in the typical bar scene? Hmmm… let’s see is that really the place to meet “Mr. Right”?
I have a better idea for you! Make a list of your hobbies and passions. What do you do in your free time? Love Tennis? You might meet your perfect “match” at the local tennis club. Love wine? Go to wine tastings and join gourmet foodie groups. You get the hint!
Think of all the fun you’ll have meeting lots of other people and making new interesting friends while enjoying your hobbies and passions, that will take your mind off “looking for Mr. Right” and then he’ll probably show up (funny how that works)!

Mamma Mia
September 2, 2008
I went to see “Mamma Mia” the other night.
I had a blast! This must be a chickflick because the theater was
full of women! (NOTE: always, always take business cards)
This movie was so much fun to watch and I’d have to say that was the general impression in the entire theatre I was at. The audience was laughing, singing, clapping and dancing in their seats!
Meryl Streep and the rest of the cast were absolutely wonderful, and listening to Pierce Brosnan sing was hilarious.
The gals in the movie were like so many of us: single women and single
moms out in the world doing the best we can and living life on our own
terms! That’s what is so cool about being a woman entrepreneur, we
get to create the life we want! And just like Donna in “Mamma Mia”
when life hands us lemons we make lemonade!
“Mamma Mia” is the collaborative effort of three women (writer, screenwriter and producer).
Since making it’s musical premiere in London in 1999, the show has earned $2 billion dollars!
This is a perfect example of masterminding ladies!

If you are like many Americans, you did some or all of your holiday shopping over the internet last year. You purchased items from web pages and online stores that you don’t normally shop.
