Business Lessons Learned From Carolina Herrera

December 25, 2008

Carolina Herrera started her business at the age of 40.  She relocated  from Venezuela to New York City to begin her business.  She defined her own style of doing business and “broke the rules” in the clothing design industry.  While she has expanded her design business into fragrances, accessories, eye wear and bridal, she does not do licensing as most designers do.  She designs everything herself and runs her own lifestyle brand.  Carolina Herrera is also well known for running a business with strict business hours of 9-5, she maintains that if you can’t get your work done in that time frame you are doing something wrong.  Carolina Herrera is not formally trained in business or design, she followed her passion for fashion.

So let’s see what lessons successful women entrepreneurs can learn from Carolina Herrera.

1.) Age doesn’t matter

2.) Education or background does not matter. Passion is the formula for success.  Fashion was Carolina Herrera’s passion, she was not formally educated in fashion, design or business.

3.) You can accomplish more with good time management skills.  You must work full-time if you are going to start and build a business, working a few hours here and there is not enough.  If you are passionate about what you do, you will not feel that time spent is “work”.

4.) You must be willing to break the rules and take risks.

5.) Stay true to yourself.

Jennifer Lopez Did This To Create Wealth and Success

There is no denying that Jennifer Lopez is not only beautiful, but she is a brilliant Latina businesswoman.  Critics may criticize her relentless drive and determination, but Ms. Lopez is living life on her own terms and has created tremendous wealth, success and happiness as a mother, wife, actress, singer and brand.

Latina entrepreneurs should take note of some of the strategies Jennifer Lopez used to build her super stardom from dancer to mega-mogul and learn to implement them in their own businesses to achieve their own success.

1.) Jennifer Lopez clearly defined her brand and then crafted her image around her brand.  If you’ve ever seen pictures of Jennifer Lopez when she began her career as a dancer, she is barely recognizable as the superstar we love today.  Jennifer Lopez has strategically built her brand by crafting her image, choosing the “right” avenues to showcase her many talents and controlling her media appearances.  Jennifer has always stayed true to her brand.

2.) Jennifer Lopez knows what all successful Latina entrepreneurs know… always have multiple streams of income.  It is much easier to create a latina millionaire business if you have many revenue streams in your business, if you have 10 “mini” streams of income making eight-thousand dollars a month, you have a recession proof business generating one million dollars a year.

3.) Jennifer Lopez worked hard every single day and she never gave up, to her quitting wasn’t a choice, the only choice was success.  To develop your latina millionaire business you must work hard and be unstoppable in your pursuit of wealth and success.  Latina Millionaires develop the Latina Millionaires Mindset, because latina millionaires know what Jennifer Lopez knows…  success begins in your mind.

We’ve shared a few of the success strategies used by Jennifer Lopez and we hope you’ll implement them as well so you can build your own millionaire lifestyle business.  Build your brand, work hard and be unstoppable, create multiple streams of business revenue and most importantly develop a millionaire mindset.

Make Money At Home With Information Products

December 13, 2008

People look to the internet each and every day for information.  What better way to make income than selling what people are looking for – information?  If you’re knowledgeable in a specialized area such as small business coaching, then create information products that will appeal to people that are interested in small business topics.

There are limitless options available for creating and selling your own information products.  Here are a few: pets and animals, self help and motivation, home organization, natural health and many, many other topics.

What skills are helpful?

Knowledge in the area that your information product is on will be helpful but is not always necessary.  You can always research a topic and create the product that way.  You can even hire a ghostwriter to create the product for you and you can concentrate on the marketing side of the business.

What tools are needed?

There really aren’t many tools that are needed for creating an information product.  A computer, a word processing program, audio recording software or screen capture video software if you plan to offer multimedia options.

How do you get started?

Start by gathering all your ideas and thoughts for the information product, and then make an outline.  Once you have this information together, start typing or recording, whichever works best for you.

If you’re creating an information product chances are you are probably a business owner and have a website already.  If you don’t have a website, you will need one to market and sell your product.

After you’ve sold a few of your information products ask for customer feedback and testimonials, place these testimonials on your website.  Reading other people’s experiences with your product will build credibility.

Take the expertise you have and help others.  Information products are a win-win situation; you win by earning income from the sale of it and the customer wins because

Is Your Heart Helping You To Prosper Or Keeping You Poor?

Is Your Heart Helping You To Prosper Or Keeping You Poor?
by Heather Dominick
EnergyRICH® Entrepreneur Success Coach

Just the other day I was walking to the subway in my New York City neighborhood and just as I approached a woman walking the other way, I sneezed. “Bless you”, she said. “Thank you”, I answered, as we passed.

Neither of us stopped or even slowed down (it’s New York, after all), but I smiled. Such a simple gesture; such a powerful impact.

This is the energy of your heart in action, your fourth energy point.

Most tend to miss, ignore, deny and avoid the energy of our heart. Constantly. Especially when it comes to building business. Yet, it’s where your brightest light and your darkest demons reside. It can soar
you to triumph or crash you into terror.

I believe it’s pretty safe to say that we’ve all been hurt at one time or another. The hurt doesn’t damage you, what you do with it does. We close our heart for protection and end up harming ourselves in the
process: you overwork to feel better, leave your relationships before they leave you and limit your financial income to what you’ve been told you’re worth.

And if this lack of “heart healing” is going to show up anywhere - it will show up in your business. When you move an inspired idea into action through the birth of a business you are, in a way, wearing your heart on your sleeve. You are taking something that you feel so passionate about and moving into practical practice for the whole world to see. Some would say, “you better have tough skin; you better be ready for rejection.”

This is what I say:

Prepare to open your heart. Wide.

Perhaps you’ve heard the saying “Do unto others as you would have done unto you”. This is true. I like to take it a step further. You get what you give and it starts with the energy of your heart. If you want to
resolve your issues with food, volunteer at a soup kitchen. Looking for a love relationship? Celebrate the love relationships that are around you; embrace wedding invitations. Want more money in your business? Give some away. And do it with grace.

Because the REAL key to the energy of the heart is no attachment to what you’ll get for giving.Your entrepreneurial strength, not your weakness, is in your open-heartedness. True prosperity is partnered with a deep sense of inner-peace. When you commit to living through the energy of your heart and allowing this spirit to move through your business, all you’ll do is thrive.

Fear will never serve your business - Only Love.

Your EnergyRICH® Call To Action:

Here’s my coach’s challenge, if you’ll accept it:

Write down one thing you really desire to have happen for yourself in your business.

Now write down something connected to this desire that you can give.

Next, write down at least one name of someone that you can give to - even if the name is ’stranger’. Put this in action for at least one day.

Go for seven days and then thirty.

Email me the results.

Going the Extra Mile Will Get You Even Further

Going the Extra Mile will Get You Even Farther
by Jack Canfield

Successful people go the extra mile. Plain and simple.

They do it because it says multitudes about their work ethic and character. They stand out from the crowd because of their extra efforts. They are unwilling to give up, even in the face of difficult times.

They get the promotions, they get the loyal customers, they grow their businesses twice as fast, they get financial rewards, job security, and they go home feeling satisfied.

Do you exceed expectations? Do you surprise people with more than they were expecting from you? Do you look for ways that you could be of more service, or for projects that you could help out on?

People notice hard workers. They notice special services and all the small touches that make dealing with you so pleasurable. And when they are talking to their friends they will mention you and recommend you because you are the one who stands out.

Do you wonder what’s in it for you? Do you think it’s unfair to give more when you’re not being compensated for it or recognized for it? Do you have the “it’s not my job” mentality?

To be successful you must change your thinking. You can only win by making extra efforts. People who go the extra mile always get payback. You will discover yourself becoming more self-confident, more self-reliant and more influential with those around you.

You will get noticed! People will see that you pay attention to detail, that you consider all the small things that really make a business successful, that you care about your image, and that you belong with all the other people who work hard to achieve. You will attract new business and new opportunities.

Listen to any success story and you will hear of someone who worked exceptionally hard to get what they wanted.

You’ll hear how they put in the extra time, did what wasn’t part of their job description, and over-delivered on what was asked of them. You’ll hear how they stuck at it until they broke through, and usually you’ll hear how it only took them a couple of years to do it.

What have you been doing for the past couple of years? The same thing? How quickly have you advanced? How quickly has time gone by? Think of what you could accomplish if you made it a habit to exceed everyone’s expectations. Image what doors could be open to you if you decided to be of better service and value.

How are you willing to go the extra mile? What kind of extra service are you willing to provide in order to stand out from the rest? What areas of your life could you be giving more of your effort and time, becoming more valuable, and improving your reputation?

Be willing to treat everyone like you’d treat your dearest friend. Don’t skimp on service. Don’t be mediocre or run of the mill. Show people what you are capable of. Show them that you care about your image and reputation.

When it comes to success, the people who are willing to go the extra mile get there that much faster!

Hire a Team To Be Successful In Business

October 9, 2008

In most large businesses, employees perform specialized functions. Secretaries handle all of the filing and related tasks. Marketing people handle the advertising and public relations. Accountants keep the books. Salespeople make the sales.

Many small businesses do not have the luxury of being able to hire employees. So the business owner must handle everything herself. While this may work out reasonably well in the initial stages, as the business grows it gets more difficult to keep up with it all. There are some compelling reasons that business owners should consider outsourcing.

1. You can’t learn everything. No matter how smart you are, you simply can’t. Even if you could, learning takes time, and there are only a set number of hours in a day. If you try to learn every minute aspect of the things that need to be done for your business, you’re going to end up disappointed and frustrated.

2. You have a life outside of your business. Everyone needs time to spend with family and friends, even if they’re running a business. If we try to tackle everything ourselves, we won’t have time to enjoy the finer things in life.

3. The stress of trying to do it all can adversely affect your health. There are enough stressors in life that we don’t need to add to them unnecessarily. But if we put pressure on ourselves to run a business on our own with no help at all, it can really stress us out. Besides affecting our state of mind, too much stress can cause high blood pressure and put us at risk for many other ailments.

4. People who are trained well in their fields may be able to do a better job. If you barely know HTML, it would take you quite a while to learn how to make a good-looking and functional website. An experienced web designer could have your entire website up and running before you were finished learning what you need to know. In situations such as this, it makes more sense to outsource than to try to do it yourself.

5. Outsourcing can save you money. Some tasks require special equipment or software. If you’re not going to need these things in the future, it doesn’t make much sense to buy them for one project. Hiring someone else that already has what is needed to get the job done is usually more economical.

In many cases, outsourcing makes good business sense. It allows us to concentrate on the things we’re best at, and it can save us time and money. So the next time you find yourself with an overabundance of work, consider outsourcing.
